Tambour doors pelmet surrounds

To complete the installation of a Luxul tambour door a pelmet surround is required to conceal the mechanism.

The images on this page show the different pelmet surround options. Click to enlarge.

For more information download the PDF Luxul tambour door installation instructions or watch the video - both are available under the Technical Support tab.

Option 1 – Order your Luxul tambour doors with a 3 piece pelmet surround

The 3 piece pelmet surround consists of 1 top pelmet and 2 side pelmets that are pre-fitted to the aluminium side tracks and the black aluminium top angle.

  • The 3 piece pelmet surround is an optional extra.
  • As the aluminium tracks and angle are being fitted so, too, is the pelmet surround
  • The only width available for the side pelmet is 44 mm.
  • The only height available for the top pelmet is 55 mm.
  • This pelmet surround is suitable for 16 mm carcass ONLY.
  • The top pelmet is designed to cover 15 mm of the top shelf. If cupboard doors are mounted above the Tambour Door, a single party shelf is not suitable.

Option 2 - Luxul tambour door with 1 piece pelmet surround supplied by others

The traditional method of routing the Surround from 1 piece of material by the cabinet-maker or the cabinet-makers door manufacturer.

  • Front vertical aluminium pre-drilled tracks to allow fixing of client’s pelmet surround from inside the carcass.
  • The standard width of the side pelmets is 45 mm. This is the minimum width. If the side pelmets are wider than 45 mm [assuming 16 mm carcass], please note the width in "special instructions" on the order form and the handle length will be shortened to suit.
  • To hide front roll of tambour door, top pelmet must be fitted.
  • The standard height of the top pelmet is 56 mm in [including 16 mm cupboard top]. The aluminium handle rail acts as the stop when it comes into contact with the front [idler] roller at the top. If the top pelmet is higher than 56 mm, an artificial stop [rubber bumper] must be used to limit the aluminium handle rail so that the handle does not hit the pelmet.
  • If fitting top pelmet only [front aluminium guides are exposed] a pelmet of 60 mm is required. Mark “No track holes” in the special instructions section of the order form if side facings are not being used.
  • An additional aluminium angle is supplied for fixing of the top pelmet - simple and easy.

Option 3 - Luxul tambour doors with 3 piece pelmet surround supplied by others

The new bracket system is specifically designed to assist the installer with differing pelmet surround solutions.

The most cost effective alternative – especially for large Tambour Doors. Rather than rout the surround from 1 large piece of material, cut 3 separate pieces.
More flexible than the 3 piece Pelmet Surround supplied by Tambortech and can accommodate:

  • Gable/blade thickness other than 16 mm.
  • Single shelf between top of tambour door and bottom of overhead doors.
  • Wider side or top pelmets. NOTE:- If using wider side pelmets than 46 mm, please note the width in special instructions and the handle length will be shortened to suit and if the top pelmet is higher than 56 mm, an artificial stop [rubber bumper] must be used to limit the aluminium handle rail so that the handle does not hit the pelmet.
  • Unlike the Luxul 3 piece pelmet surround, each piece can be cut to the exact length required.
